The Life in Transition Survey (LiTS) is a large-scale household survey conducted by the EBRD in collaboration with the World Bank.

The purpose of LiTS is to analyse how transition has affected the lives of people in the EBRD regions. Four waves have been conducted: 2006, 2010, 2016, and 2022/23. LiTS IV covers 37 economies.

Download microdata

The Life in Transition Surveys are representative surveys of around 1000-1500 households per country, with a harmonized questionnaire conducted face-to-face.

The surveys are representative by level of urbanity (urban/rural) and follow some of the same localities over time.

Technical report

LiTS IV examined inequality of opportunity, job quality, digitalisation, and attitudes towards the green transition.
